I coached tennis at Auckland Athletic Club from 2012 to 2024. Most of my players were between 9 and 15, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I wrote a short note to every student at the end of term.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
