My trade is auto repair. I opened my own shop in 2003 in Yonkers and I'm still there most mornings.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I try to remember everyone's name.
I'm still learning every day.
More about Mercedes
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Mercedes: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.

You fixed our roof in 2011 and charged half what others asked. Greetings from Kampala.
