Mekonnen Yonas Legesse
Master of upholstery, now teaching apprentices
- 🇪🇹 Gondar, Amhara, Ethiopia
- The Eastgate Workshop
- 2003 to 2012
- English
I'm a upholstery specialist. If you live around Gondar, there's a good chance I've worked in a building near you.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I take the work seriously, though not myself.
More about Mekonnen
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Mekonnen: A gift would go toward tools for apprentices who can't afford their own.
