My subject is linguistics, and for 27 years I get to share it with undergraduates at Jakarta Institute of Technology.
I write a short note to every student at the end of term. It sounds small, but students remember small things.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Maya
Some of my favorite days were field trips that went spectacularly wrong.
What gifts mean to Maya: I'd put a gift toward a student bursary.
