Maverick M. Porter
Coached wrestling for 38 years in San Diego
- 🇺🇸 San Diego, California, United States
- San Diego Boxing Gym
- 1986 to 2024
- English
I coached wrestling at San Diego Boxing Gym from 1986 to 2024. Most of my players were between 8 and 14, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I stayed late on Thursdays for anyone who needed it.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
More about Maverick
I still keep the team photo from our best season on the wall.

What gifts mean to Maverick: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
