I've worked in thatching from 2001 to 2023. I learned from my grandmother and passed what I could on to 480 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I try to remember everyone's name.
I'm proud of everyone I got to work with.
More about Maryam
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
What gifts mean to Maryam: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
