I've been a nurse for 37 years, most of them in surgery at Bamboo Maternity Hospital in Kakamega. Night shifts taught me patience, and patients taught me everything else.
The thing I'm proudest of is that families usually remember my name. I bake for the whole street at New Year.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Mary
If I looked after you or someone you love, I hope they're well.
What gifts mean to Mary: I'd put gifts toward a training course in palliative care.
