Mary Hellen Ssemwogerere

Youth football coach and mentor

  • 🇹🇿 Dar es Salaam, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
  • Dar es Salaam Swimming Club
  • Since 1978
  • English, Swahili
I've coached football at Dar es Salaam Swimming Club since 1978. Most of my players were between 9 and 13, and a lot of them turned into friends for life. Practice always ended with the same rule: nobody walks home alone. I sing in a choir. I'm proud of everyone I got to work with.

More about Mary

I still keep the team photo from our best season on the wall.

What gifts mean to Mary: A gift would go toward kit and bus fares for kids who can't afford them.
