Marilyn Hanson
Master of welding, now teaching apprentices
- 🇳🇿 Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand
- Old Hamilton Works
- 2010 to 2025
- English
I've worked in welding from 2010 to 2025. I learned from my grandmother and passed what I could on to 740 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I'm usually the first one in and the last to leave.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
More about Marilyn
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Marilyn: A gift would go toward tools for apprentices who can't afford their own.
