Mariko Reiko Nishimura

18 years teaching French in Yokohama

I teach French and early years at Rosewood Girls' School, Yokohama. I write a short note to every student at the end of term. Over the years I've had 340 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile. Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.

More about Mariko

Some of my favorite memories are from the school trip to the old fort, where nothing went to plan and everything turned out fine.

What gifts mean to Mariko: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.
