Mariko Keiko Shimizu
27 years teaching religious studies in Shinjuku
- 🇯🇵 Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan
- Shinjuku Secondary School
- Since 1999
- Japanese, English
I came to teaching late, after working as a nurse, and 27 years later I still can't imagine doing anything else.
Over the years I've had 780 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
If you remember me, I'd love to hear from you.

What gifts mean to Mariko: If you do send something, I'll put it toward a small scholarship for a student who needs it.

you taught me religious studies in 2021 at Shinjuku Secondary School. I still remember the day we all got the giggles in assembly
