I came to teaching late, after working as a night-shift cleaner, and 39 years later I still can't imagine doing anything else.
Outside the classroom I sing in a choir. Inside it, I stay late on Thursdays for anyone who needs it.
I'm still learning every day.
More about Marieke
Some of my favorite memories are from the school trip to the science museum, where nothing went to plan and everything turned out fine.

What gifts mean to Marieke: If you do send something, I'll put it toward a small scholarship for a student who needs it.

You taught me English literature in 2005 at Amsterdam Technical College. I still remember that terrible school play.
