Maina Brian Mwakyusa
Drums player and teacher in Thika
- 🇰🇪 Thika, Kiambu, Kenya
- Thika Quartet
- Since 2004
- English, Swahili
I play drums and jazz. I started in 2004 with a secondhand instrument and a lot of stubbornness.
I teach about 14 students a week. Some of them are better than me now, which is the whole point. I'm always reading two books at once.
More about Maina
I write my first song when I was 15. It was terrible and I still love it.
What gifts mean to Maina: A gift would go toward new strings, repairs and music for my students.
