I taught English literature at Setagaya Grammar School in Setagaya from 1994 to 2011. Most days I taught Year 7, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk. I coached the school's athletics team for a few seasons. We lost more than we won, and I'd do it all again. I'm proud of everyone I got to work with.
