Macharia Bakari Maina
20 years teaching art in Dodoma
- 🇹🇿 Dodoma, Dodoma, Tanzania
- Dodoma Middle School
- Since 2009
- English, Swahili
For 17 years I have been the art teacher at Dodoma Middle School. I teach the final-year class and a few brave older students who wanted extra help.
Over the years I've had 560 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
More about Macharia
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.

What gifts mean to Macharia: A gift would go toward books and supplies for the students I still tutor.

You taught me art in 2015 at Dodoma Middle School. I still remember the surprise birthday cake. Truly.
