I've been a nurse for 39 years, most of them in palliative care at Hillcrest Regional Medical Center in Eindhoven. Night shifts taught me patience, and patients taught me everything else.
I'm usually the first one in and the last to leave. Small things matter when someone is frightened.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
