Lucy Duran
Master of thatching, now teaching apprentices
- 🇺🇸 San Antonio, Texas, United States
- Little Silverlake Works
- Since 1991
- English
I've worked in thatching since 1991. I learned from my father and passed what I could on to 1,820 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I always make time for a proper cup of tea.
If we met, say hello. I'd love to know how life turned out.

If I fixed something for you, I hope it's still holding.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Lucy: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
