Liya Getu
Retired music teacher from Victory Secondary School
- 🇪🇹 Mekelle, Tigray, Ethiopia
- Victory Secondary School
- 1996 to 2025
- English
I came to teaching late, after working as a postal worker, and 29 years later I still can't imagine doing anything else.
Over the years I had 1,740 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Liya
Teaching changed me more than I changed anyone, I think.
What gifts mean to Liya: If you do send something, I'll put it toward a small scholarship for a student who needs it.
