I coached tennis at Amsterdam Athletic Club from 1979 to 2003. Most of my players were between 11 and 14, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I never turned anyone away.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
What gifts mean to Lisa: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
