I teach early years at Pune Technical College in Pune since 1992. Most days I teach the final-year class, and I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
I've run the school newspaper after school and some of my proudest moments happened there. I volunteer at the food bank on Saturdays.
More about Lavanya
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.

What gifts mean to Lavanya: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.
