I coached cross country at Salem Stonebridge Community Club from 2004 to 2017. Most of my players were between 12 and 14, and a lot of them turned into friends for life. Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I always had a bag of oranges in my drawer.
