I coached baseball at Lincoln Football Club from 1988 to 2015. Most of my players were between 8 and 18, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I always had a bag of oranges in my drawer.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.

What gifts mean to Juliana: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.

Thanks for picking me when I was the slowest kid on the team. Greetings from Paarl.
