I've been a nurse for 48 years, most of them in midwifery at St. Joseph's General Hospital in Laredo. Night shifts taught me patience, and patients taught me everything else.
The thing I'm proudest of is that families usually remember my name. I'm always reading two books at once.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
