Juan Yao
Self-taught woodcarving artist
- 🇦🇺 Townsville, Queensland, Australia

- English, Mandarin
I got into woodcarving as a hobby and somewhere along the way it became the thing I do every day.
Most of my work is inspired by faces I pass in the street. I walk the dog by the river.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.

What gifts mean to Juan: I'd put a gift toward a kiln repair. It's been a long time coming.

I bought one of your pieces in 2010. It's still the first thing I see in the morning. Greetings from Rochester.
