I taught agriculture at Hillcrest Public School in Medellín from 2005 to 2015. Most days I taught the youngest children, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Over the years I had 260 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
