I've been a nurse for 38 years, most of them in elder care at Portland Children's Hospital in Portland. Night shifts taught me patience, and patients taught me everything else.
The thing I'm proudest of is that families usually remember my name. I bake for the whole street at New Year.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
