James Contreras
Painter, potter and teacher at Sherbrooke Pottery
- 🇨🇦 Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada
- Since 1980
- English
I got into oil painting as a hobby and somewhere along the way it became the thing I do every day.
I also teach a weekly class at Sherbrooke Pottery, which keeps me honest.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
More about James
I've had 6 small exhibitions over the years. My favorite was the one with the worst lighting.
What gifts mean to James: I'd put a gift toward a kiln repair. It's been a long time coming.

I bought one of your pieces in 2012. It's still the first thing I see in the morning. Greetings from São Paulo.
