Isaac Yakubu Ekwueme

Painter, potter and teacher at The Lagos Art Collective

🇳🇬 Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria
The Lagos Art Collective
1981 to 2004
English, Hausa

I work mostly in printmaking, sometimes illustration. My first show was in 1981 at The Lagos Art Collective, and nobody came except my family and one confused dog. I also teach a weekly class at The Lagos Art Collective, which keeps me honest.

More about Isaac

I've had 13 small exhibitions over the years. My favorite was the one with the worst lighting.

Mediums

Printmaking

What gifts mean to Isaac: I'd put a gift toward a kiln repair. It's been a long time coming.
