I've been a nurse for nine years, most of them in cardiology at Bakersfield Maternity Hospital in Bakersfield. Night shifts taught me patience, and patients taught me everything else.
I never rush a conversation. Small things matter when someone is frightened.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
