Idris Omar Sarkis
Master of carpentry, now teaching apprentices
- 🇪🇬 Shubra, Cairo, Egypt
- The Fairview Workshop
- 1986 to 2011
- English, Arabic
I've worked in carpentry from 1986 to 2011. I learned from my aunt and passed what I could on to 450 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I never rush a conversation.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
What gifts mean to Idris: Any gift will help me keep the workshop open for evening lessons.
