I coached martial arts at Nashville Football Club from 2013 to 2021. Most of my players were between 10 and 13, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I wrote a short note to every student at the end of term.

Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.
