I coached chess at Osaka Youth Club from 1983 to 2007. Most of my players were between 11 and 16, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
My best seasons were the ones we lost most games and still showed up every Tuesday.
I'm still learning every day.
What gifts mean to Hitomi: A gift would go toward kit and bus fares for kids who can't afford them.
