I've volunteered with San Fernando Community Kitchen since 1982. I started on a Saturday morning "just to help out" and never left.
I'm not an expert in anything, I just show up. I fix old bicycles.

We run on goodwill and a very old kettle.
What gifts mean to Herman: A gift would go toward supplies for our weekly sessions.
