I spent 18 years as a lecturer in marine biology at Rotterdam Polytechnic in Rotterdam. I loved the lecture hall and loved office hours even more.
I'm happiest when a student comes to office hours with a question that makes me rethink something I've said for years. I volunteer at the food bank on Saturdays.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.

What gifts mean to Hendrik: I'd put a gift toward a student bursary.
