I've coached rowing at Westbrook Swimming Club since 2012. Most of my players were between 9 and 18, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I never turn anyone away.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Guadalupe
I still keep the team photo from our best season on the wall.
What gifts mean to Guadalupe: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
