Grace Akello Ngowi
Master of shoemaking, now teaching apprentices
- 🇰🇪 Machakos, Machakos, Kenya
- The Machakos Repairs
- 2007 to 2023
- English
My trade is shoemaking. I opened my own shop in 2007 in Machakos and I'm still there most mornings.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I always make time for a proper cup of tea.
Thank you for stopping by.
More about Grace
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Grace: A gift would go toward tools for apprentices who can't afford their own.
