For 33 years I have been the art teacher at Amsterdam Boys' School. I teach the youngest children and a few brave older students who wanted extra help.
Outside the classroom I'm always reading two books at once. Inside it, my door is open at lunch.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Gijs
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.
