I coached softball at Redwood Sports Club from 1981 to 2010. Most of my players were between 10 and 13, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I played music while people worked.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
What gifts mean to Gerardo: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
