Folake Kemi Ibrahim
Traditional drumming player and teacher in Kano
- 🇳🇬 Kano, Kano, Nigeria
- Kano Ashford Ensemble
- 1987 to 2006
- English, Hausa, French
I play traditional drumming and brass band. I started in 1987 with a secondhand instrument and a lot of stubbornness.
I teach about 6 students a week. Some of them are better than me now, which is the whole point. I fix old bicycles.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.

What gifts mean to Folake: A gift would go toward new strings, repairs and music for my students.
