Femke Merel Van der Horst

34 years teaching chemistry in Amsterdam

  • 🇳🇱 Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands
  • Amsterdam Primary School
  • Since 1991
  • Dutch
For 35 years I have been the chemistry teacher at Amsterdam Primary School. I teach Grade 6 and a few brave older students who wanted extra help. I've coached the school's netball team for a few seasons. We lost more than we won, and I'd do it all again. I'm still learning every day.

More about Femke

Teaching changed me more than I changed anyone, I think.

What gifts mean to Femke: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.

you taught me chemistry in 2016 at Amsterdam Primary School. I still remember the long bus ride home.
