Fajar Zulkifli Tanoto
Master of weaving, now teaching apprentices
- 🇮🇩 Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia
- Atlas Repairs
- Since 1982
- English, Spanish
I've worked in weaving since 1982. I learned from my grandmother and passed what I could on to 2,330 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I never rush a conversation.
More about Fajar
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Fajar: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
