Faith Lilian Ochieng
Master of shoemaking, now teaching apprentices
- 🇰🇪 Embakasi, Nairobi, Kenya
- Summit Shop
- 1990 to 2019
- English, Swahili
I've worked in shoemaking from 1990 to 2019. I learned from my uncle and passed what I could on to 1,280 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I like to keep things simple and honest.
More about Faith
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Faith: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
