Evans Tumusiime Opio
Master of painting and decorating, now teaching apprentices
- 🇺🇬 Mbale, Eastern Region, Uganda
- The Jacaranda Trades Guild
- 1993 to 2017
- English, Swahili
My trade is painting and decorating. I opened my own shop in 1993 in Mbale and I'm still there most mornings.
The best compliment I ever got was a customer who called me back 19 years later for another job.

What gifts mean to Evans: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
