Emilio T. Gutiérrez
38 years teaching computer science in Chicago
- 🇺🇸 Chicago, Illinois, United States
- Chicago Secondary School
- 1998 to 2021
- English, French
I taught computer science at Chicago Secondary School in Chicago from 1998 to 2021. Most days I taught Year 10, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Over the years I had 850 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
More about Emilio
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.

What gifts mean to Emilio: A gift would go toward books and supplies for the students I still tutor.
