Emilia Jordan
Thatching for 45 years in Chicago
- 🇺🇸 Chicago, Illinois, United States
- Old Chicago Trades Guild
- Since 1981
- English, Spanish
I've worked in thatching since 1981. I learned from my mother and passed what I could on to 2,030 apprentices.
I can still tell good work from rushed work from across the street. I fix old bicycles.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
More about Emilia
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
What gifts mean to Emilia: A gift would go toward tools for apprentices who can't afford their own.
