I teach physical education and chemistry at Tokyo Girls' School, Tokyo. I write a short note to every student at the end of term. Over the years I've had 1,230 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile. I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.

What gifts mean to Emi: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.
