I've spent 17 years as a lecturer in civil engineering at Oakwood State University in Durham. I loved the lecture hall and loved office hours even more.
I'm happiest when a student comes to office hours with a question that makes me rethink something I've said for years. I garden badly but happily.
What gifts mean to Dr. Pena: Any gift helps me keep buying books for students who can't afford them.
