I've spent 43 years as a lecturer in materials science at London Polytechnic in London. I loved the lecture hall and loved office hours even more.
I'm happiest when a student comes to office hours with a question that makes me rethink something I've said for years. I bake for the whole street at New Year.
More about Dr. Benali
Some of my favorite days were field trips that went spectacularly wrong.
What gifts mean to Dr. Benali: I'd put a gift toward a student bursary.
