Douglas Nguyen
Master of shoemaking, now teaching apprentices
- 🇺🇸 Dayton, Ohio, United States
- The Hope Workshop
- Since 1998
- English
I've worked in shoemaking since 1998. I learned from my father and passed what I could on to 1,620 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I like to keep things simple and honest.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Douglas
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Douglas: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
