I've worked in tiling from 1979 to 2009. I learned from my grandfather and passed what I could on to 1,110 apprentices.
I can still tell good work from rushed work from across the street. I'm always reading two books at once.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
What gifts mean to Dola: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
